As for Dani, well, she’s fantastic! She’s motivated and determined, she’s blunt and she’s confident, but she also protects her heart at all costs. She values her success in her academic field, and it was so wonderful getting to read about someone who so obviously loved what they did, and was not ashamed to put their focus on their work rather than other places. PS: Talia Hibbert included a trigger warning at the beginning of this book. Why dont all authors do this?!

So yes, there was a lot to love about this book, but I did have some issues! Firstly, the plot kind of stalled in the middle of the book. There wasn't enough drama, and the pace slowed down due to many internal monologues. We knew from the start that Dani didn't do relationships, but I felt like I was being beaten over the head with it, as it was repeated over and over in both character's heads.

Need Help?

I also am not the biggest fan of social media-based plotline, and I found the overall story arc to be a bit thin. Both characters were well-developed and the side characters were endlessly interesting, I just felt like nothing much happened in the story.

Help! I’ve fallen [prey to my fairly high expectations and been brutally disappointed] and I can’t get up! Dani is interested in Zaf. Interested in sleeping with him. But with time, she sees he makes her happy, makes her life easier, and never makes her feel bad for being busy with work and school. Zaf is super supportive and the sweetest hero ever. I couldn't have loved him more. I also liked Dani's character a lot. She knew what she wanted and I can always appreciate that. Dani Brown is an extremely intelligent, goal focused and hard working what Dani is no good at is relationships. During a fire drill Dani gets trapped in a lift and is rescued by Zafir (Zaf) her work colleague and good friend. She sees his rescue as a sign from the universe that they should be friends with benefits and then a video of Zaf rescuing Dani becomes viral they strike up a deal. I believe what I’m enjoying the most is the wittiness amongst the sisters and Gigi. I love the sisterhood and friendship shown in both books. This second series was just as enjoyable as the first. I love the fact we have this huge man that is Zafir, all physical qualities screams MAN and ALPHA, but he is a huge romanticizing marshmallow. In terms of Dani he is understanding and appreciative of her person. That is so important in a relationship, especially for someone with the insecurities Dani has. She knows who she is yet feels like her personality hinders her from finding love. I can personally relate to that. But when you find a person who loves you, your mind, quirkiness, “faults”& your insecurities, that is a person who sees you. I truly enjoyed their HEA and Dani realization of her capabilities of expressing her love for Zafir.

Find a Book

Dani is a cynic when it comes to romance. Despite her fiery and blunt personality, she still comes across as very loveable human. Nevertheless, Zaf is easily my favourite character in the book (and funnily, Red was my favourite in Chloes book). I love that Zafs a romance-reading titan. All he wants is a happy ending. He also suffers from grief and anxiety, which is openly discussed throughout the book, and expertly covered. I found his way of thinking to very relatable and realistic, and his vulnerability is refreshing to read. He comes across as a big, aloof, grouch, but in reality hes a bit of a gentle giant. His goal is to combat toxic masculinity through sports and therapy hes too pure! I do have to say that Zaf really stole the show for me though! He is the epitome of a soft and grumpy love interest. A big guy, ex rugby player kind of BIG, people are initially intimidated by his size and gruff voice, but deep down? He is a hopeless romantic, an absolute marshmallow. I mean, the guy gives Dani daily protein bars because he knows she doesn’t get time to eat in the morning and she always snatches them out of his hands 🥺 To be honest, all the hashtags at the start of each chapter kind of irritated me, but that's because I'm old ha ha! But #couplegoals and #Dr Rugbae made me cringe hard!

Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits - someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom. This is me attempting to start out this review in a Fun Way, in the hopes that so much as one moment of my experience with this book can be Fun, because reading it was...not. Now for the level of steaminess.. I remember the first book being steamy, but this took the levels of hot to the next level, in that I felt like I was reading porn! It felt a bit too much for me, I prefer the sexual tension leading up to a couple getting together, and this had A LOT of sex. No one else seemed to mind this though, so maybe it's just me?! Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for so many explicit sex scenes?! Zaf’s palms slid up over her rounded belly, and then his thumbs caressed the sensitive undersides of her breasts.Overall, Take a Hint, Dani Brown is an awesome addition to The Brown Sisters series. If youre a fan of the friends-to-lovers and fake relationship tropes, as well as diverse romance that sits on the steamier side, this is the book for you. I have so much more that I love about this book but Im struggling to be coherent about all the little details that made this book so wonderful! I think the best advice I can give is for you to read this book!
