As a massive fan of the Death Korps of Krieg, I couldn’t wait to get these guys built and painting as soon as possible and I have to say they are absolutely outstanding models.

Each player secretly makes a deck of 6 cards for their secondaries, then draw cards two at a time keeping one and discarding the other until they have a final 3 semi-randomised secondaries – again I love this as you will know what is in the deck, but you cannot guarantee what 3 you end up with.First up we get a sheet of double sided token to represent objectives, active operatives and various statuses and effects that may be active during a game. The Core Book contains the rules for games of Kill Team and it’s here that we see that Kill Team really is quite a bit different than games of 40k. If the Attacker scores 3 or more VPs from Seek and Destroy Tac Ops during this battle, they gain 1 additional Requisition point. These are heavily themed, story-driven narrative missions set within War Zone Octarius, and contain a mixture of symmetric and asymmetric mission rules and mission objectives. Octarius introduces us to two new factions made from models that can ostensibly be used in other factions: Veteran Guardsmen, which use the new plastic Death Korps of Krieg models, and Kommandos, which use the new plastic Ork Kommandos models. At the end of the battle, you score 4VPs for each objective marker in the enemy’s drop zone that was sapped. Next up is the Kill Team sprue – this contains movement gauges marked with symbols for ease of play during your games of Kill Team – don’t worry, this isnt some bespoke measuring system however – each of the facings also relate to inches with pips along the edge of each template marking these out. At the end of each Turning Point, you score 1VP if you control the Oil Pump Vantage Point objective marker. One of our agents, carrying a rare and mysterious artefact, secreted it among the junk piles in this killzone before he was cut down in a greenskin ambush.

Kill Team Octarius is an outstanding set, not only does it contain some stunning miniatures such as the new Ork terrain, Kommandos and plastic Death Korps, but it is also a much needed refresh of the Kill Team.

Kill Team Octarius is not available forever, but I would highly recommend picking it up and giving this skirmish system a go and getting your hands on the models in this box a little earlier than they are available seperatly! For example, if it performed it during its activation, it would not be able to perform the action again during that activation. On the whole there’s more here than we expected, particularly compared to the pamphlets that constituted Killzone releases in the prior iteration of Kill Team. MISSION OBJECTIVEEach time a friendly operative performs the Recon Vantage Point action, you score a number of VPs depending on which Vantage Point was reconnoitred by your forces, as shown below (to a maximum of 6VPs per player per Turning Point).
